Tropical Storm Irene tried to leave Morristown swimmers high and dry.
Mud washed into pools at Burnham Park, forcing the town this week to close the facility for the remainder of the season.
But Morris Township has come to the rescue for the Labor Day weekend. It will honor Burnham Park pool passes at its Ginty and Streeter township swimming pools. These pools are open daily from 11 am to 7 pm through Sept. 5.

It?s not the first time the township has come to the rescue. In recent years it opened its pools to members of the Cromwell pool and the Morris County YMCA when they had closures.
?In this case, Morristown is helping us, too, by assigning some lifeguards to assist our staff,? said Bill Foelsch, the township?s recreation director.
Morristown officials have said their priority is ensuring that electricity is restored to residents who have been without power since the Aug. 28 storm.
State regulations would have required draining, scrubbing and disinfecting the Burnham Park pools?a big job under any circumstances.
The Ginty pool is on South Street, near the Seaton Hackney Stables. The Streeter Pool is on Sussex Avenue. For more details, call 973-326-7371 or see the township website.
